Here is the first comic I had published in Red Slime comic anthology, based on one of the public service announcements at the end of a Truck episode. I thought this one was funnier, so I submitted this one. The editor agreed.

A couple years ago I was approached online by a man named Jay Goldberg who was starting up a comic anthology series called Red Slime. Sadly that site is gone (or was, the last time I checked it), but he had asked me to contribute a couple of short comic book scripts that he would find artists for. This is the second one I sent to him, a shortened, modified version of Assault’s origin story, presented in audio format as Thief to Hero. A pinup of one of the characters made the cover of Red Slime twice, once when this story was in the issue, and once when it wasn’t!

CIRCUS-13 PRESENTS THE UNCANNY X-MEN, episode 5: Blowback, written by John Byrne, plot by Jim Lee, adapted for radio by Timm Gillick.
A TON of characters this time around, some small parts with only a couple lines each, some that are big for the next 3-4 episodes and one recurring character being recast.
Audition deadline – We’ll give this one a few weeks to make sure everyone who wants to get in on the mutant mayhem. So we’ll set it for June 30th.
Recording and Contact information -
-Record in 44100hz 16-bit Stereo MP3 or wav is fine.
-Save the lines as “charactername_yourname_linenumber.mp3″ (ex: Wolverine_Jester_01.mp3)
-Please put multiple files in a ZIP or RAR file and label it as “yourname_Xmen_auds.zip”
-Send your auditions to jester@circus13productions.com
-SOUND QUALITY IS A FACTOR! If you send me files with a lot of puffs and pops and background noise, you’ll get rejected out of hand. A low steady computer fan noise is fine, I can deal with that.
-And please don’t bug me about your audition. Don’t ask if there’s any way to change it. Don’t ask if I got it.
Don’t ask ANYTHING, please! I’ll keep a list on here of the ones that I get and will update it every couple of days. So if you sent it to me, give it a couple days before you ask if I got it. Thanks.

Age: early to mid 20′s
Bio: From another planet where the ruler, Mojo, rules by television. His mutant power is his incredible luck and his hollow bones that make him very light. He’s a very swashbuckling type of character. The audition lines are all he has in episode 5, but his role is bigger in episode 6.

Audition line 2: We don’t have much time, m’love. You CAN’T have forgotten this.
Audition line 3: SPIRAL?!
Audition line 4: (sound effect, kissing Dazzler passionately, but quickly)
Name: Thug 1
Age: early 20′s and up
Bio: typical street thug type. Rough and gruff, and annoyed.
Audition line 1: A teleporter! Is there ALWAYS a teleporter?
Name: Dr. Cornelius
Age: early 40′s and up
Bio: the doctor who helped experiment on Omega Red, Sabretooth, Maverick and Wolverine (among others). He’s working with Matsuo and Fenris. Not a good guy.
Audition line 1: HM! Seventeen hours, fifty three minutes and… An odd number of seconds. I suppose you’re not really interested in the precise readout?
Audition line 2: Hmmm… Maybe we SHOULD disengage. I don’t want to see Wolverine killed before…
Name: Maverick
Age: early 30′s and up
Bio: Another of Wolverine’s old partners from his team as Weapon X. He’s working to help Wolverine now against Omega Red. Maybe a slight German accent (not necessary, very subtle if you can do it).
Audition line 1: Obs-Link One to Central. Confirm target. They have LOGAN, Major. No sign of CREED.
Audition line 2: Maverick to Central. This is going SOUR fast, major. Logan doesn’t know what the hell’s happening to him! I’m gonna REMIX this little party a bit! (beat) Starting now!
FEMALES:
Name: Lila Cheney
Age: early 20′s and up
Bio: friend to Dazzler and the X-men, she’s helping Dazzler get her memory back. She’s human but has been a friend to the X-men for a while.
Audition line 1: C’mon, Alison! You can’t have FORGOTTEN everything? You were an X-man! Y’know — Australia? The Reavers? Roma? Incredibly cute guys?
Audition line 2: Hoo boy — you X-men sure don’t believe in dull moments, do you? We’re OUTTA here!
Name: Spiral
Age: early 20′s and up
Bio: the hitman, enforcer, assassin for Mojo of the TV planet. She has six arms and can teleport across time and space. Tough, not nice at all, and she uses SWORDS!
Audition line 1: LONGSHOT! I’ve found you, rebel! Your long escape is at an end!
Audition line 2: It doesn’t matter. You haven’t escaped. Poor Longshot. Haven’t you YET realized Mojo ALWAYS gets his way…?

Name: Cerebro
Age: any
Bio: the X-men’s mutant finding computer, very clean, crisp voice, not a lot of inflection
Audition line 1: Perimeter alert. Cerebro scan. Unidentified mutant signature detected. Quadrant K724.
Audition line 2: Mutant located vector nine nine seven, bearing six two one. Specifications on screen.
